SR1204 - PREMUDA - GRILLINI -
DALLA: "LUCI SUL LAGO" Guido Premuda - guitar / Gilberto Grillini -
double bass / Alessandro Dalla - drums / Katherine
Pigott - english horn The project depicts
and
explains the various aspects of the musical universe of this modern
jazz trio, bringing back a unitary and dynamic image. It consists of
fifteen original songs of various influences, eleven of which were
composed by guitarist Guido Premuda and arranged by the group. Four
other pieces are ascribed to the trio, and the remaining song is a
tribute to the music of Andrea Morricone's cinema through the
re-reading of one of his beautiful themes. Some of the tracks are
embellished, made more full-bodied and tonally richer by
the intervention of British musician Katherine Pigott's horn. SR1204 |

Rossella Cangini - voce, loops, visuals Fabrizio Elvetico - piano, basso elettrico, live electronicsThe Elvetico/Cangini duo FERC is a jazz/industrial/visual project that joins acoustic sounds and electronic treatments, starting from circular sequences in continuous transformation and from various kind of sounds and noises. In this scenario, the two musicians intervene by means of improvised lines that aim to accumulate tension. Picking up from a background that includes contemporary music, jazz, punk, electroacoustic landscapes, the duo never forgets the goal of seducing the listener, melting together physical approach and musical research. FERC performance includes also real time video drawing and processing. SR1203 |

SR1201 - SIMONE ZANCHINI: “MY ACCORION CONCEPT” Simone Zanchini - accordion, midi accordion, electronics, noises, kazoo "My Accordion Concept"is a project built on radical improvisations for acoustic accordion and live electronics, a brave attempt to subvert the common code of expression through his instrument, the most deeply rooted in the so-called 'recognizable music'. One of the most interesting and innovative accordionists on the international scene, his research moves between the boundaries of contemporary music, acoustic and electronic sound experimentation, contaminations...resulting in a very personal approach to the subject to improvisation. |

SR1202 - MARILENA PARADISI - Special Guest Stefania Tallini: "COME DIRTI" Marilena Paradisi - vocals Stefania Tallini- piano The choice of the title
("Come Dirti", how to
tell you) is the index of a necessity of expression in
which reflections and moods find their voice in the total impovisation
of the text, which harmonically merges with the always
original melodic background. recorded in a unique extemporary session,
this project finds the collaboration with the italian pianist Stefania
Tallini, in 16 tracks of total improvisation, 16 songs in
italian of phenomenal expression and poetic impact, with a fully
empathic synergy between the two artists. SR1202

SR1107 - MINO LANZIERI: "THE ALCHEMIST" Mino Lanzieri - guitar Gene Jackson - drums Reuben Rogers - double bass Francesco Nastro - piano Jazz
is dead. This is what some say, at least, since a while; but it is not
true at all: to realize this, it is sufficient to listen to this
record, and any doubt will fly away. This is the confirmation that Jazz
not only is alive, but also enjoy great health when the musicians are
really outstanding and they become protagonists and actors of a
complete project, from a compositional and performance perspective.
Here the 'chemical components' are interplay, richness of ideas,
fluidity of emotions, the energy spreading out of this italian-american
quartet, leaded by our alchemist Mino Lanzieri. In honour of this form
of universal language that we call Jazz! SR1107

Guido
Premuda (guitar),
Enrico Guerzoni (cello),
Luigi Albertazzi
(drums), Gilberto Grillini (double bass)
Guido Premuda records again for Silta Records , a Cd under his own name with original compositions and a surely atipic quartet. His presentation of the project: The project "the Next" started with the idea of breaking down the rigid borders between the different musical genres (jazz, classical and ethnic). The search is in the music which belongs to the present and the future, but without renouncing tradition and the past, gathering key elements such as melody (from ethnic), dynamics (from classic), rhythm and improvisation (from jazz). It has been a great pleasure to play with these fine musicians and, first and foremost, good friends. SR0905 |

Dario
Mazzucco (drums),
Stacy Dillard (tenor sax),
Lucio Ferrara
(guitars), Ryan Berg (double bass), Guest: Antonio
Ciacca
(piano).
An italo-american quartet, sometimes enriched by a special guest: pianist Antonio Ciacca, important musician of the New York scene. The snardads here performed perfectly fit in the program of original compositions by Dario Mazzucco; this is a clearly Jazz-style, fluent and amazing. It shows how this form of improvisation is always able to bring emotions, yesterday like today. SR0907 |
||
ALESSANDRO SACHA CAIANI: "EFFETTO LUDICO" Alessandro Sacha Caiani (tenor sax), Achille Succi (alto sax, bass clarinet), Biagio Coppa (tenor and soprano sax), Xabier Iriondo (mahai metak, shaahi baaja), Silvia Bolognesi (double bass), Cristiano Calcagnile (drums). This sextet will surprise you. It is true, with such musicians the expectation must be high, but this recording not only is the confirmation of he value of these single musicians: the sound of the group, the unitarity and the consistency of the project will surprise you. Ideas flow and improvisations, never banal, follow a logic path with freshness and enthusiasm. You will be contaminated! c |

WILLIAM PARKER & GIORGIO DINI:
"TEMPORARY"
William Parker (double
bass, shakuhachi), Giorgio Dini (double bass) Five duets of freely improvised music, dialogue and creation of highly expressive musical movements, always changing. The basses merge, counterpoint, whisper, scream, conversate in a revelation of expression and the broad sound range that they are able to produce. A conquering listening experience. SR0903 |

MARCO TARDITO "AMARILLI QUARTET" - THE MUSIC OF CLAUDIO MONTEVERDI Marco
tardito (soprano saxophone, arrangements), Giorgio Giovannini (trombone),
Stefano Risso (double
bass), Donato Stolfi
(drums and percussioni).
The repertory is surely unusual in the field of improvised music; re-arrange madrigals from the 17th century for Jazz performers is not an easy task, but Marco Tardito shows here great capability as arranger and saxophonist. The arrangements are precise and bring tasteful ideas, while the interpretations of the quartet are rich of creativity and expressive balance. SR0902 |

STEFANO
SAVINI: "CORTILE" Stefano Savini (guitars), G.M. Matteucci (clarinets), S. Ricci (bass), M. Gazzoni (drums), M. Patricelli (piano on tr.7-8-9). Stefano Savini own recording for Silta Records comes 3 years after the release of NOPOP CD (SR0501). There is a strong link between the two CDs (most of musicians appeared in Nopop) but also differences: here Savini is handling the project with personality, playing his own compositions. The sound of the CD is an evolution of Nopop style, with italian-Jazz athmosphere and some ethnic influence, reminding somehow some soundtracks of the traditional Italian movies (Fellini for example). THE
ORIGINAL TRIOLOGY Max Carletti (guitars), Giorgio Giovannini (trombone), Marco Tardito (sax, clarinet) This original combo includes professional musicians with heterogeneous experiences (Carletti is a fix member of the recent band of the italian rock star Eugenio Finardi, Giovannini performs with Roy Paci in the Zelig TV Band), here together in a long-lasting project, with arrangements and compositions which will surprise you for originality and consistance of sound. The absence of the drums does not mean there is a low rhythmic power, on the contrary allowa to reach unique fades of sound. SR0804 |

T
R I O: "BILL'S HEAVEN - to Bill Evans"
Antonio Cavicchi (guitar) - Ares Tavolazzi (double bass) - Riccartdo Biancoli (drums) A Jazz Trio proposing a hommage to Bill Evans may look a bit hazardous, but this is not the case: in fact, this is a piano-less trio and the project is focused on Bill Evans the Musician, composer and performer, with very fine interpretations. This is the result of a lucky collaboration among the three Italian musicians, which in this CD are appreciated for elegance, taste and interplay. SR0802 |

PASTOR
/ SCHIAFFINI / DINI / ROTELLA: "UNCRYING SKY"
Stefano Pastor (violino) - Giancarlo Schiaffini (trombone) - Giorgio Dini (contrabbasso) - Daviano Rotella (batteria) This work starts from the will to act against today’s materialism and the imposition of certain a-cultural and social models; Pastor’s compositions contain highly creative improvisations; the (post)modern approach of the quartet displays his own rebellion, supported by the literal text (by Pastor itself) in Italian and English with the 28 pages booklet, recommended by contemporary writer Mark Weber. EXPLORATIONS"
Guido Premuda - guitars / Gilberto Grillini - double bass / Alessandro Dalla - drums, with Stefano Scippa - soprano sax A journey through the blues, from rock to free, that explores the 12 tones of western musical notation.
